Mostyn Coaching Stock Formations As well as information from enthusiasts' observations made in 1977, the document on which the coaching stock formations on Mostyn are based is the British Railways LMR Passenger Train Marshalling Circular for 2nd May 1977 to 7th May 1978 We were lucky
that a copy of this was loaned to BMRG member David
Goodwin by Bill Rear some 20 years ago when the relevant
sections for the North Wales Coast were typed up for
future reference. Along with the observations from 1977,
this data is used as the basis for the three bigger Mk1
coach rakes used on Mostyn as well as for the planned
Mk2 and Mk3 rakes. If you click here, BMRG present a ‘North Wales Coast’ version of the Coaching Stock Marshalling Circular, formatted in the style of the original document. Although
the LMR Marshalling Circular has been followed as
faithfully as possible we acknowledge that mistakes may
exist, and this is certainly the case where paper
additions to the original document meant that other
earlier data were obscured. Where some of the obscured
data were recorded in the notes made in the mid-90s,
this is shown in red. Addendum
- Since this information was first added to the BMRG
website, the BR Passenger Train Marshalling Circular
described above, along with a second copy, is now in the
possession of Robert Carroll. Robert has a yahoo
group called BRCoachingStock
dedicated to all things related to 'British Railways
operated coaching stock'; he and other members of the
group have spent time and effort collecting and creating
elecronic copies from these Marshalling Circulars, including those
relevant to 1977. Readers are well advised to
join this group if they are interested in the history
and operation of BR coaching stock. Mk1
